Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an account?
- No. Tap "Browse as guest" on the sign-in screen and use every feature right away. Later, go to Settings → Profile → Register and link an email, Google or Apple account; your data is kept and starts syncing across devices. Note: guest data lives on this device only and is lost if you uninstall the app, so link an account early.
- Which sign-in methods are supported?
- Email and password, Google, and Apple (iOS only).
- I forgot my password.
- Tap "Forgot password?" on the sign-in screen and enter your registered email. We send a 6-digit code (valid for 10 minutes); enter it and choose a new password of at least 6 characters.
- How does photo recognition work? Do I need to download a model?
- No download. By default recognition runs offline on your device, so the photo never leaves your phone, and it fills in the item name and expiry date, plus quantity and unit when it can read them. If you turn on Settings → Preferences → "Use cloud AI recognition", results are more accurate, but a downscaled copy of the photo is sent to our server and processed by an AI service, which needs internet. If the cloud fails, the app falls back to on-device recognition.
- When are expiry reminders sent? Can I change them?
- With Settings → Preferences → Expiry reminders on, the app checks every morning (around 09:00 Taiwan time) and notifies you once 1 to 3 days before expiry, on the day, and after an item has expired. The in-app "Expiring soon" list shows items due within 7 days. If nothing arrives, check that notifications are allowed for the app in your phone settings.
- How does my family share a list?
- Create a household under Settings → Group. An admin taps "Invite member" to get a 6-character code (valid 7 days); family members enter it under "Join or create a group". Inventory and the to-buy list sync instantly. You can belong to several households and switch between them.
- What is the difference between the to-buy list and inventory?
- The to-buy list is a shopping list; it is not inventory. Tick an item when bought, then tap "Add to inventory" and enter its expiry date, purchase date and quantity. Only then does it enter inventory and start getting reminders.
- Can I customise categories?
- Yes. Under Settings → Manage categories you can add, edit, delete and drag to reorder them, with an emoji as the icon. New households start with Food, Drinks, Household and Medicine.
- Does it work offline?
- Data is stored in the cloud so households stay in sync, so adding and viewing items needs a connection. Only on-device photo recognition itself runs offline; saving the result still needs internet.
- Are there ads? Can I pay to remove them?
- The app is free, with a few ads on the home and settings screens to keep it running. There is currently no paid ad-free option.
- Which languages are supported?
- Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English and Japanese. The app follows your phone language and can be changed under Settings → Language.
- How do I delete my account?
- Open the app → Settings tab → scroll to the bottom → Delete account → confirm. This permanently deletes your account and all personal data. Households where you are the only member are deleted with their inventory; households with other members are kept for them. If you cannot sign in, email us and we will process it within 30 days.
